GI Joe – Life-Like Adventure Team 1975-1976
After already adding flocked hair and Kung-Fu grip features to the Adventure Team, Hasbro added a new “lifelike” feature in this wave. It basically added muscle tone to the Joe’s, giving a more realistic look. Also added was the “Eagle Eye” feature, which was given to two figures, Man of Action and Land Commander. A small lever on the back of their neck allowed you to move the character’s eyes around. Hasbro introduced Bulletman and the Intruders for this wave to add some different types of characters.
For more information about Hasbro’s GI Joe Adventure Team from 1975-1976, see bottom of the page for a complete summary.

After already adding the flocked hair and Kung-Fu grip features to the Adventure Team line, Hasbro added another great new wrinkle to the classic GI Joe by giving him a “lifelike” feature. This lifelike quality basically added muscle tone to the Joe’s, giving them a more realistic look. Now every Joe had perfectly sculpted six-pack abs. Another nifty feature added for this series of Joe’s was the “Eagle Eye”. There were two figures with this feature in this series, Man of Action and Land Commander. There was a small lever on the back of the Joe’s neck that allowed you to move the character’s eyes around. Although not as cool as Kenner’s Six Million Dollar Man telescoping eye feature, it was still something new for kids to play around with.
In addition to some previously released characters, Hasbro also gave us a few brand new ones as well, such as Bulletman and the Intruders. This was an attempt to add some different types of characters to the Joe world other than the standard military types. This also signaled the beginning of a direction change for the Joe line, as they attempted to evolve into this new decade of science fiction adventure. We also got several new adventure sets and smaller carded adventure sets. These new adventure sets were really top notch and showed that Hasbro was still putting a lot of new creativity into the line. Hasbro released a few new vehicles as well, along with a new version footlocker to put our Life-Like Joe’s into.
The packaging for the lifelike GI Joe figures changed quite a bit from previous years. Hasbro still used the gorgeous artwork like past years but now added the new GI Joe Adventure Team logo and a bold new color scheme. The new logo was basically Joe’s head dotting the letter ” J” in Joe. It was done in a nice subtle red, white and blue color scheme. Also, the Adventure Team red and black “A” logo was no longer included on the packaging, in favor of a more modern looking paint scheme, but still focusing on the GI Joe brand.
