The Power Rangers returned for their eleventh season in 2003, and once again, the team changed into a different theme. This time, the team was revealed as the “Power Rangers Ninja Storm”. This marked the first full season produced by Disney and to air on ABC Kids for the entire year. This season featured three young students that joined with the Thunder Rangers (Crimson and Navy) to battle the evil Lothor and his army.
The Power Rangers Ninja Force consisted of five Power Ranger characters, Blue Wind, Red Wind, Yellow Wind, Crimson Thunder and Navy Thunder. They would be joined by the mysterious Green Samurai Ranger, who was later revealed as Cameron Watanabe. This group of Rangers would battle the evil mastermind, Lothor and his army of villains. This season saw a shift in the tone of the show, as writers began embracing the campy light heartedness of the series. The filming location also changed this year, as it moved to New Zealand.
The Power Rangers Ninja Force series proved to be very popular and is generally seen as among the best of the Power Rangers series. Toy sales took a big step forward as well, with action figures and accessories from Ninja Force selling very well with the kids who were watching the show at the time. Toy and merchandise sales saw a resurgence, as the Power Rangers showed they they were still just a popular as ever in 2003. Most items from the Ninja Force line can still be easily found on the secondary market, with the Zords and vehicles being among the more coveted items.
