The Power Rangers returned for their fifteenth season in 2007, and once again, the team morphed into a different theme. For this season, the team was revealed as the “Power Rangers Operation Overdrive”. This season sees an explorer named Andrew Hartford unearth a legendary crown that frees evil brothers, Flurious and Moltor from imprisonment. Four elite teenagers unite to become Power Rangers Operation Overdrive and stop the crown from falling into the wrong hands.

The Power Rangers Operation Overdrive team consisted of six Mystic Power Ranger characters, Blue Ranger, Black Ranger, Pink Ranger, Red Ranger, Yellow Ranger, and the Mercury Ranger. They would be joined by the Sentinel Knight. This group of Rangers would battle Thrax and his evil army. This marked the 15th anniversary of the Power Rangers, and much fanfare was made of the milestone. This season aired exclusively on ABC Kids with the filming location remaining at New Zealand.

The Power Rangers Operation Overdrive series is generally considered one of the weaker seasons of the show. Due to budgetary issues, the series had to borrow heavily from their Japaneese couterpart for stock footage. This definitely affected the quality of the show. Toy sales also began to slow down, with most items being produced by Bandai of America now. Most items from the Operation Overdrive line can still be easily found on the secondary market.
