The Power Rangers returned for their sixteenth season in 2008, and once again, the team morphed into a different theme. For this season, the team was revealed as the “Power Rangers Jungle Fury”. This season sees the evil Dai Shi spirit escape from his prison after 10,000 years, which forces the newest Power Rangers team into action to save the world once again.

The Power Rangers Jungle Fury team consisted of five primary Power Ranger characters, Blue Ranger, Red Ranger, Yellow Ranger, Rhino Ranger, and the Wolf Ranger. They would be joined by three Spirit Rangers Elephant, Bat and Shark Rangers. This group would battle Dai Shi and his evil clan. This season marked the last that would air on Jetix before it was consolidated into Disney XD.

The Power Rangers Jungle Fury series was not regarded in a positive way at the time of release, but much of the chaos around the show’s production centered around budgetary issues and the writers strike. This definitely affected the quality of the show and the ratings proved that. Toy sales also continued to slip, with all items now being produced by Bandai of America now. Most items from the Jungle Fury line can still be easily found on the secondary market.
