Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – 2010

The Power Rangers returned for their eighteenth season in 2010, but it was not an original concept. Instead, this season was a re-broadcasting of the very first Power Rangers series, “The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”.  The previous season “Power Rangers RPM” marked the final series produced by Disney, after Saban had reacquired the franchise in 2010. It should be noted that only the first half of Season One was actually aired.

The 2010 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team consisted of the same six primary Power Ranger characters as first introduced in 1993, Black Ranger, Blue Ranger, Pink Ranger, Red Ranger, Yellow Ranger and the Green Ranger. They would be assisted by Alpha 5 and their mentor Zordon. The Rangers would battle Lord Zedd and his army of Evil Space Aliens. This season aired on ABC Kids, as it was reacquired by Saban Entertainment. Several new special effects were added to these episodes, as well as a revised opening intro.

The 2010 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series was not regarded in a positive way at the time of release, and only ending up airing 32 revamped episodes from the first season. The show was not warmly received and came to an early end. This definitely affected the quality of the toys released as well, with many retail chains ordering smaller quantities. Most items from the 2010 Mighty Morphin line can still be easily found on the secondary market, but the Zords can be harder to find due to limited production numbers.
