Beetlejuice – NECA

Beetlejuice – NECA (2001-2020)

Beetlejuice launched on the big screen in 1988 and became an instant cult classic. Previously, only Kenner dipped into the Beetlejuice market, but NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association) began their own Beetlejuice line in 2001. They released another line in 2008 in conjunction with the popular “Cult Classics” toy line  and again in 2020, in conjunction with the “Toony Terrors” figure line.  NECA’s new figures were much more detail oriented than Kenner’s line and really paid homage to the beloved original movie.

For more information about Series One from NECA’s Beetlejuice lines, see bottom of the page for a complete summary.

This was a classic part of the famous Waiting Room scene from the movie. Also included in the couch they are sitting on. The figures are not poseable, but this is a great addition to any Beetlejuice collection.

Beetlejuice (2008): Action Figures

The second series of Beetlejuice action figures by NECA in 2008 contained only one figure essentially and that was the Series 7 Beetlejuice from the Cult Classics line. There were two other versions of that figure also released but using the same sculpting. A Talking 18″ figure was also made available and is considered the highlight of NECA’s Beetlejuice figures.

Beetlejuice (Series 7)

Market Value:
Carded $90 – $120
Loose $40 – $60

Beetlejuice (Series 7)
Accessories: Green Snake, Red Snake, Handbook of the Recently Deceased
Years Released: 2008
Scarcity Factor: Moderately easy to find
Notes: NECA gave us an amazing new sculpt of the “Ghost with the Most” as part of Series 7 of the Cult Classics line. This was, by far, the most realistic version of the title character of Beetlejuice we had gotten to this point.

Beetlejuice (Pin Stripe)

Market Value:
Carded $100 – $140
Loose $40 – $60

Beetlejuice (Pin Stripe)
Accessories: Green Snake, Red Snake, Handbook of the Recently Deceased
Years Released: 2008
Scarcity Factor: Moderately easy to find
Notes: NECA gave us an amazing new sculpt of the “Ghost with the Most” as part of Series 7 of the Cult Classics line. This version was simply a re-packaging of the Series 7 Cult Classics figure, but on a smaller card.

Beetlejuice (Red Tuxedo)

Market Value:
Carded $90 – $120
Loose $35 – $55

Beetlejuice (Red Tuxedo)
Accessories: Green Snake, Red Snake, Handbook of the Recently Deceased
Years Released: 2008
Scarcity Factor: Moderately easy to find
Notes: We got yet another great Beetlejuice figure with this Red Tuxedo version. This version was the same sculpt of the previously released Cult Classics figure, but with a different set of legs and overall paint job.

Beetlejuice 18″ Talking Figure

Market Value:
Boxed $220 – $320
Loose $100 – $140

Beetlejuice 16″ Talking Figure
Accessories: None
Years Released: 2008
Scarcity Factor: Moderately easy to find
Notes: The Talking Beetlejuice figure is a fantastic 1/4-scale version of Michael Keaton as the bio-exorcist, Beetlejuice! Decked out in his white and black striped suit, this figure features an amazing likeness of the actor. There are seven different phrases taken directly from the movie, such as “Go ahead, make my millennium” and “Thank you! Woo! That is why I won’t do two shows a night anymore, babe. I won’t. I won’t do them.” This really is a fantastic sculpt and one of my absolute favorite Beetlejuice collectibles ever made.

Beetlejuice (2020): Action Figures

The latest Beetlejuice release by NECA is the Toony Terrors version of Beetlejuice from Series 4 of that series in 2020. There were no other Beetlejuice releases that year.

Toony Terrors Beetlejuice (Series 4)

Market Value:
Carded $20 – $30
Loose $8 – $15

Toony Terrors Beetlejuice (Series 4)
Accessories: None
Years Released: 2020
Scarcity Factor: Moderately easy to find
Notes: This version of Beetlejuice figure is exactly what it sounds like, a cartoony version of the main man himself. NECA’s Toony Terrors began in 2019 and continue to this day. This is a fun version of Beetlejuice and is reminiscent of the old Kenner line of 1989.

Beetlejuice (2001-2020): Accessories

Beetlejuice launched on the big screen in 1988 and became an instant cult classic. Previously, only Kenner had dipped into the Beetlejuice market, but NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association) began their own Beetlejuice line in 2001. They released another line in 2008 in conjunction with the popular “Cult Classics” toy line  and again in 2020, in conjunction with the “Toony Terrors” figure line.  NECA’s new figures were much more detail oriented than Kenner’s line and really paid homage to the beloved original movie. Many of these figures are highly sought after by collectors and fans nowadays.

In 2001, NECA produced a small series of five individually packaged figures, along with a few multi pack sets. The individual figures were Stretched Face Adam, Stretched Face Barbara, Beetlejuice with Spikes, Shrunken Head Guy and Smoking Guy. The multipacks contained different combinations of those figures along with the Witch Doctor in one set and a Sand Worm in the other. NECA released another small series of figures in 2008 for the Cult Classics line. In that series, there was only one character, and that was Beetlejuice……of course. There was the standard Cult Classics Series 7 release, along with two other individual figures. One was the regular pin-striped suit version and the other had Beetlejuice in his red tuxedo. In addition, there was also a Talking 18″ Beetlejuice figure. NECA released one more Beetlejuice figure in 2020 with the Toony Terrors version.

The packaging for the various Beetlejuice Series over the years varied slightly, but remained fairly consistent with its darker theme and color tone. The first series in 2001 went with a simple package that consisted mostly of the bubble with very little else. The 2008 Cult Classics release was consistent with the other Cult Classics figures, while the other two versions went back to the small and simple card design. The lone exception was the 18″ Talking figure, which used a photo of the amazing head sculpt on the lower left of the box. The Toony Terrors release was again consistent with the other Toony Terrors figures released over the years.
