The Vintage Collection

The Vintage Collection 2010 – Present

Hasbro released the Vintage Collection from 2010 to 2013. The line was based on original series packaging, but updated with new likenesses and lots of detail. The line included characters from every Star Wars medium to date, including movies, the Clone Wars animated series and Expanded Universe. The packaging on the Vintage Collection was the big sell on this line and Hasbro nailed it, with a big nod to adult collectors. The line went on hiatus in 2013, but returned in 2018. It picked up right where it left off for figure numbering, making this the longest lasting Star Wars toy line to date.

For more information about Hasbro’s Vintage Collection line, see bottom of the page for a complete summary.

Hasbro went back to the basics in 2010, and gave us the Vintage Collection. This line was based on the old school packaging from the original movies with a nostalgic throwback. The figures themselves were of course updated with new likenesses and as much detail as they could fit into a 3.75 inch action figure. The line included characters from every released movie at the time, as well as other Star Wars mediums to include the Clone Wars animated series and the Expanded Universe. What made this line really stand out for me was seeing modern characters on those amazing looking vintage cards. It was extremely cool. Most of the sculpts were also spot on, with authentic looking costumes and accessories.

The packaging on the Vintage Collection line was what this series was all about, so it had to be just right, and Hasbro nailed it. yeah, the figures were very cool looking and wonderfully sculpted, but that packaging……..It was truly a throwback to the good old days when collecting action figures was much simpler. The nod to adult collectors was definitely appreciated, which has made this line the longest lasting Star Wars action figure line to date. The line went on hiatus in 2013 but returned in all it’s glory in 2018 and picked up right where it left off, as far as the figure numbering went.

The Vintage Collection has truly stood the test of time and remains incredibly popular for Hasbro, proving that adult collectors are the ones that truly drive the business of Star Wars action figures. There is no sign of slowing down, nor should there be since this line is as close to perfection as you can get. This line remains highly collectible with a great outlook for the future.
