The Power Rangers returned for their seventeenth season in 2009, and once again, the team morphed into a different theme. For this season, the team was revealed as the “Power Rangers RPM”. This season sees a new group of Rangers rise to protect the city of Corinth, against an evil machine army. These Rangers use new advanced biotech vehicles to battle the attacking machine army. This would be the last original series produced by Disney, after Saban reacquired the franchise.

The Power Rangers RPM team consisted of six primary Power Ranger characters, Ranger Red, Ranger Blue, Ranger Black, Ranger Yellow, and the Ranger Green. They would be joined by the Ranger Gold and Ranger Silver. This group would battle the Venjix Computer Network. This season marked the last that would air on any Disney channel, as it was reacquired by Saban Entertainment.

The Power Rangers RPM series was not regarded in a positive way at the time of release, but much of the chaos around the show’s production centered around budgetary issues and behind the scenes chaos. This definitely affected the quality of the show and the ratings proved that. Toy sales also continued to slip, with many retail chains ordering smaller quantities. Most items from the RPM line can still be easily found on the secondary market, but other items can be hard to find due to limited production numbers.
