The Power Rangers returned for their fourteenth season in 2006, and once again, the team morphed into a different theme. For this season, the team was revealed as the “Power Rangers Mystic Force”. This season sees the small town of Briarwood as the center of an epic battle between good and evil, as the Army of Morticon seek to claim the magical realm. This thrusts the Mystic Force Rangers into action.
The Power Rangers Mystic Force team consisted of six Mystic Power Ranger characters, Blue Ranger, Green Ranger, Pink Ranger, Red Ranger, White Ranger and the Yellow Ranger. They would be joined by the Solaris Knight and Wolf Warrior. This group of Rangers would battle Morticon and his evil army. This season aired exclusively on Toon Disney’s Jetix block with the filming location remaining at New Zealand for the fourth year in a row.
The Power Rangers Mystic Force series started off strong, but ratings fell off as the season progressed. Due to budgetary issues, the series had to borrow heavily from their Japaneese couterpart for stock footage. This definitely affected the quality of the show. Toy sales also began to slow down, with much of the focus being on the Red Rangers and not much variety. Most items from the Mystic Force line can still be easily found on the secondary market.
