Masters of the Universe Wave 7 – 1988
Most people consider Wave 6 in 1987 to be the final wave of the Masters of the Universe line, but technically speaking, it was not. The actual final wave of the line was in 1988, with the release of two new figures, but they were only offered in the Italian market. The two produced figures were of the most popular characters of the line, He-Man and Skeletor, with new head sculpts and Laser Power features.

Most people consider Wave 6 in 1987 to be the final wave of the Masters of the Universe toy line but technically speaking, it was not. The actual final wave of the line was in 1988, with the release of two brand new figures. The only problem was, they were only produced and offered in the Italian market. There were rumors of the figures appearing in other European countries, including England, but they unfortunately never made it across the pond to the U.S.
If you are only going to produce two figures for a Masters of the Universe toy line, then there should be no question of who the characters should be. The produced figures were of He-Man and Skeletor, both billed as having “Laser Power”. This was basically a light-up feature that was powered by the backpacks the characters would wear. New head sculpts were also used for the new figures, which both really work well.
The packaging for the last two figures of the Masters of the Universe line was similar to previous waves of the years before but with a couple of new twists. The traditional Masters of the Universe logo sat at the top of the card wit the foreign version of it just underneath it. Then there was the classic red rock explosion that seemed to jump out at you, along with the name of the character above the bubble. The card itself was wider with the figure being on the left side of the card. A drawing of each character was just above the bubble on the left side.
