Power of the Jedi 2000 – 2002

Hasbro released their Power of the Jedi line in 2000, and it ran until the beginning of 2002. This line combined Original Trilogy and Episode One characters. Many of the figures in this series had never been produced before, which made it a fun line to collect. A few fun sub-sets were released, as well as a small vehicle line and a wave of 12 inch figures. A Sneak Preview set for the new Attack of the Clones movie was also released towards the end of the line.

Power of the Jedi (2002): Basic Figures

Only three figures were released in 2002 as part of the Power of the Jedi’s final wave, due to the Star Wars Saga line beginning that same year. These three figures were originally scheduled to be released in 2001, but were pushed back because of production delays.

Hasbro only released three “Exclusive” figures for the Power of the Jedi line, with one of them (Rorworr) being part of a RPG game.

Power of the Jedi (2001-2002): 25th Anniversary Figures

Hasbro released three different two-packs featuring a few of our favorite scenes from “A New Hope” to commemorate its 25th Anniversary in 2002.

Power of the Jedi (2000-2001): Deluxe Figures

Hasbro released four very well done deluxe figures for their Power of the Jedi line, that included some fun prop pieces, such as Luke Skywalker’s Bacta Tank.

Only one multipack was released for the Power of the Jedi line, but it was a very cool one featuring our two favorite Darth’s, Vader and Maul.

Hasbro introduced their Power of the Jedi line in 2000, and it ran until the beginning of 2002. This line combined the classic Original Trilogy characters, as well as a bunch of new and interesting figures from Episode 1. Many of the figures released in this line had never been produced before and were first timers, which made this a really fun line to collect. Hasbro stepped up on the sculpts as well, which brought a new light to some of the older characters. A few sub-sets were also released with this line, such as Deluxe figures, Masters of the Dark Side pack, 25th Anniversary two-packs and a Sneak Preview set for the new Attack of the Clones movie, that was released in 2002.

One big down-side to this line was the packaging. The starburst green card with Obi-Wan in a fighting pose, in front of the same old Power of the Force Darth Vader head shot, showed a real lack of creativity by Hasbro. The bright green color was definitely eye catching but it just didn’t really have a lot of curb appeal on the store shelves. Each card came with a “Force File” card with a photo of the character on front. The file card sat at the bottom left of the blister pack, and contained various stats and information about the character.

Due to the lackluster packaging and many characters that kids weren’t familiar with, Power of the Jedi wasn’t one of the best selling lines for Hasbro, but it definitely stands out with its own unique personality and style. Not to mention, this is the only Star Wars line to feature a Porkins action figure, so that alone should tell you this line has character. Overall, the Power of the Jedi line is fairly easy to find on the secondary market and at reasonable prices.
