Wrestling Action Figures began back in 1984, When LJN first introduced them to the world, and we’ve never looked back since. Throughout the years, almost every toy company in the business has produced a line of Wrestling action figures. Whether it was LJN, Remco, Galoob, Hasbro, Tonka, Toy Biz or Mattel, Wrestling action figures had been a staple of toy aisles across the county and continues to this day. But everything changed in 1996, when Jakks Pacific began their incredible run of Wrestling toys that would last nearly 15 years.
Jakks Pacific was a relatively new company at the time, as it was founded only the year prior in 1995.The WWF was one of the first big toy licenses that Jakks Pacific had acquired, and they were making big plans for it. Jakks decided they would release several different series or themes of figures, which would allow them to sell multiple versions of our favorite wrestlers. They began their hugely successful and popular WWF/WWE Wrestling Action Figure series in 1996, and ran all the way until 2009. There were many different “main lines” during its run, but It all began with the “Bone Crunching” WWF Superstars series in 1996. This eventually changed multiple times to brands such as TitanTron Live, R-3 Tech, Ruthless Aggression, Deluxe Aggression and Classic Superstars. There were countless other smaller series over the course of their 14 year run and Jakks continually came up with new ways to market and sell their wrestling action figures. Jakks Pacific definitely left a huge impact on the wrestling toy world and the action figure industry as a whole. There is an entire generation of wresting fans that owe Jakks Pacific for being such a huge part of their childhood.
