WWF/WWE WRESTLING ACTION FIGURES
1996 – 2009 (Jakks Pacific)

The second wave of wrestling action figures from Jakks Pacific in 1997 expanded what they had begun the previous year. Their successful WWF Superstars series continued with three more waves, along with several new series such as; The Managers Series, Ringside Collection, Signature Series, WWF Legends and Tag Teams. Several new multipacks and ring playsets were also released in 1997.

WWF Superstars (1997): Bone Crunching Action – Series 3

Jakks Pacific continued their very popular WWF Superstars series in 1997 with Series Three. The series contained four re-releases (Bret Hart, Diesel, Goldust and Shawn Michaels) with four brand new characters, Ahmed Johnson, British Bulldog, Mankind and Sycho Sid. Note: These figures were released on die-cut cards, as well as full cards with the values being similar.

WWF Superstars (1997): Bone Crunching Action – Bad Boys Series 4

Series Four of the WWF Superstars series contained one re-releases (Vader) and five brand new characters, Farooq, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Jerry Lawler, Justin Hawk Bradshaw, and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

WWF Superstars (1997): Bone Crunching Action – Series 5

Series Five of the WWF Superstars series contained six brand new figures, Flash Funk, Ken Shamrock, Rocky Maivia, Savio Vega, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Sycho Sid.

Best of 97 – Series 1 (1997): WWF Superstars

The Best of 97 series was essentially a greatest hits from the figures released throughout the year. All figures from Series one or two were re-releases from the WWF Superstars line.

Managers – Series 1 (1997): WWF Superstars Line

The Manager Series contained four different two-packs featuring famous WWF wrestler/manager combos. Featured were first time figures of Bob Backlund, Sultan, Clarence Mason, Crush, Paul Bearer and Marc Mero.

Ringside Collection – Series 1 (1997): WWF Superstars Line

The Ringside Collection featured fantastic new sculpts of Sable, Sunny and Vince McMahon, along with a new WWF Referee figure for our awesome Ring Playsets.

Signature Series – Series 1 (1997): WWF Superstars Line

The Signature Series was band new in 1997, with new figures of Animal, Hawk, Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, Mankind, Goldust and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Special Edition (1997): WWF Superstars Line

This year would see the beginning of Jakks Pacific’s new “Special Edition” figures with Yokozuna being the one and only figure released in 1997.

Tag Team – Series 1 (1997): WWF Superstars Line

The Tag Team Series consisted of the most popular Tag Teams in the WWF at the time, including the Godwins, Headbangers, Legion of Doom and New Blackjacks.

WWF Legends – Series 1 (1997): WWF Superstars Line

The WWF Legends series consisted of four 8″ figures in a special limited edition package. Included were Andre the Giant, Captain Lou Albano, Classy Freddie Blassie and Jimmy Snuka.

WWF Superstars (1997): Multipacks

Jakks Pacific released several multipacks throughout their WWF/WWE action figure line, and we got nine new multipacks in 1997, featuring various combinations of our favorite WWF wrestlers.

WWF Superstars (1997): Accessories & Playsets

Jakks Pacific released several different versions of their Wrestling Ring playsets from the WWF action figure line. In 1997, there were three versions of their Raw is War Monster Ring Playset, as well as a new version of the original Monster Ring from the year before. In addition, we got three brand new “Mini Slammin’ Action” sets that came with miniature figures and a wrestling ring.
