The Power of the Force (12″ Figures)
1995 – 2000
Hasbro began releasing 12 Inch figures in early 1996, and continued all the way through 2000. Despite the larger size and price tag, these figures were extremely popular with fans and collectors. Hasbro released a BOATLOAD of different figures, with many of the more unique ones going to retail stores as exclusives. Hasbro released a wide assortment of characters, which represented all three of the original trilogy movies. It should be noted that many of the retail exclusives were later re-packed and released to all retail locations.

Power of the Force (2000): 12 Inch Figures
Since the Power of the Force line had technically ended the year before, Hasbro released whatever had been left over from the line in 2000. This included two new 12″ large scale sets featuring a Sandtrooper with Dewback, and a Speeder Bike with Scout Trooper. These were both retail exclusives and are very impressive sets.

These new 12 Inch figures had six points of articulation and quickly became a fan favorite of collectors. Hasbro gave us a great assortment of characters from all three original trilogy movies, and kudos to Hasbro for producing interesting new takes on our favorite Star Wars characters. For the incredible exclusives offered, it seemed as if every retailer in the toy business during the late 1990’s got into the act, including Target, Walmart, KB Toys, Service Merchandise, JC Penney’s, FAO Schwarz and of course, Toys R Us. Some of the highlights of this incredible line include the 12″ Han Solo w/ Tauntaun, Sandtrooper w/ Dewback, Speeder Bike w/ Scout Trooper and Princess Leia as Jabba’s Prisoner w/ R2-D2.
This line was not only very popular with collectors and fans, but also with kids at the time. A younger generation was being introduced to the classic Star Wars characters their parents grew up with, and they really seemed to like it. Hasbro produced a massive amount of figures for this line, but due to the size of the figures, they weren’t as plentiful as their 3.75″ counterparts. The Power of the Force 12 inch line remains the gold standard for large scale figures and was a fun and satisfying line to collect. The values for these figures are finally staring to inch upwards, as the power of the Force line has reached a nostalgic period with kids and collectors of that era.
