The Force Awakens (2015 – 2016): 12 Inch Figures
After a hiatus for several years, Hasbro brought back their 12 Inch figure series for the Force Awakens line. The figures were not very detailed with little articulation. Due to the lackluster effort by Hasbro, the series did not sell very well and thankfully came to a quick end.

The Force Awakens (2015 – 2016): 12 Inch Figures
When the Walt Disney Entertainment Company purchased Lucasfilm in October of 2013, they promised us more Star Wars movies with the continuation of the Skywalker Saga in Episodes 7, 8, and 9. True to their word, Disney gave us The Force Awakens (Episode 7) in December of 2015. Force Awakens went on to become the biggest domestic box office movie of all time, so naturally we expected the same of the toy line, right? We got a good (not great) action figure line with a decent assortment of characters and sub-sets. There were a couple of head scratchers (looking at you Constable Zuvio) that sat on peg hooks for years, but the design and sculpts were fairly detailed and well done.
The packaging on the Force Awakens line had a nicely drawn picture of each character on the left side of the card with a large sized head shot of Kylo Ren with his signature lightsaber at the top of the card. The blister cards were fairly attractive and looked good on the shelves, so there is no complaint there. Hasbro also gave us an “Armor Up” set of figures and several multipacks to along with 13 vehicles. A very basic looking 12 Inch series was also introduced, to very little fan fare. Several characters from the animated show, Star Wars Rebels, were also mixed into the various waves, along with figures of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader from The Empire Strikes Back.
Considering that the Force Awakens was a MASSIVE smash hit at the box office, the toy line didn’t quite live up to its namesake. The line was somewhat limited and just seemed like Hasbro kind of missed the mark for such a huge event film. The movie was loved across the globe by billions, and Hasbro just failed to capitalize on that momentum. Still, the line sold very well at the time, despite the limited selection. A few of the vehicles (Millennium Falcon, X-Wing and Slave 1) can reach moderate prices but overall, just about every item from the Force Awakens line can be cheaply found on the secondary market with minimal effort.
