The Star Wars Saga line was released in conjunction with the newest prequel movie, Episode II: Attack of the Clones, as well as the 25th Anniversary of the Star Wars franchise itself. Hasbro wanted to create an all-encompassing line that included characters from all Star Wars movies and not just the newest Episode 2. The first wave was obviously heavy on the Attack of the Clones characters, but the next two waves really stepped it up and gave us an amazing assortment of old and new, not to mention some great looking characters. The assortment in this line is certainly pretty impressive and Hasbro went into the Star Wars vault to pull out some characters that we had never been seen before. There were also several interesting and fun sub-sets that added great variety to the line.
The packaging on the Star Wars Saga line was fairly simple with Luke’s hands gripping his lightsaber from the iconic 1977 Star Wars poster, over a blue card. There was also a classic silver Star Wars stripe wrapping around the card borders. The design was simple but still attractive enough to catch your attention. Later waves added the movie title to the left side of the card, just in case you weren’t sure. Each package had a small photo of the character on the bottom left side of the card blister.
The Star Wars Saga line was a large series, and included many great looking figures and accessories. It was a solid addition to the Star Wars toy family with a very wide assortment of characters to go along with some effective packaging. There were some pretty nifty sub-sets as well, including the Screen Scenes, Cantina Sets and the Collector Figure and Cup sets . The vehicles in the line were also very well done with a nice mix of old and new. Overall, the Star Wars Saga line (not to be confused with the Saga Collection line) is still very plentiful on the secondary market, and at reasonable prices.
