Princess of Power Wave 2 – 1986
The second wave of the Princess of Power line, gave us eight new figures in 1986, which included new versions of She-Ra and Catra. Also released were four new mounts, including three new Crystal horses and a big cat named Clawdeen. One new vehicle, the Sea Harp and one new playset, Crystal Falls were also both released by Mattel as well as multiple gift sets. Since the first wave of Fantastic Fashions were such a big hit, a second wave of eight more new sets were produced for this wave.
For more information about Mattel’s Princess of Power line from 1986, see bottom of the page for a complete summary.

Princess of Power – Wave 2 (1986): Playsets

Notes: The Crystal Falls Playset is a nice accessory to the previously issued Crystal Castle set, and featured an actual running waterfall. The playset also came with several small accessories and a Mini-Comic. The Crystal Falls set is described as a “refreshing water wonderland for She-Ra and her friends”, and it really does look like a pretty relaxing place to wind down after a long day of fighting bad guys.
Princess of Power – Wave 2 (1986): Vehicles
Mattel released another creative vehicle for their Princess of Power line with the aquatic looking Sea Harp.
Sea Harp

Market Value:
Boxed $175 – $250
Loose $40 – $60
Sea Harp: The Great Rebellion
Accessories: Shell, Sea Horse, Harp, Cushion, Reins
Years Released: 1986
Difficulty To Find: Moderate Difficulty – Takes patience and appears less often
Notes: The Sea Harp was yet another way for our Heroes to get around Etheria. The Sea Harp can usually be found underneath the Crystal Falls, and plays a musical message that can be heard throughout the land when She-Ra needs to summon her friends. This is a pretty basic accessory for the line and doesn’t really come with much, aside from the bridle & reigns, seat and cushion.
The first wave of the Princess of Power toy line was a huge hit with the female toy market, as well as with the boys. It seemed that all kids were looking to add to their MOTU/POP world, and Princess of Power was the perfect compliment to the Masters of the Universe line. Of course it didn’t hurt that The Princess of Power animated series by Filmation was still running strong, while the Masters of the Universe animated series had already been cancelled the year before. He-Man and friends would still make the occasional appearances in She-Ra’s world, but Princess of Power had proved that it could stand on its own without having to lean on the MOTU brand. Unfortunately, the Princess of Power series would ultimately be cancelled on December 2, 1986. Once again, there was no original comic books series to accompany the show.
The second wave of the Princess of Power line, gave us 8 new figures in 1986, including new versions of She-Ra and Catra. The Great Rebellion team increased their ranks with Flutterina, Mermista, Peekablue, Perfuma, Sweet Bee and a brand new version of She-Ra called Starburst She-Ra. The Evil Horde got a little love also with Entrapta and a new version of Catra called Scratchin’ Sound Catra. We also got four new creatures, including three new Crystal horses for our figures and a new big cat ride for Catra named Clawdeen. One new vehicle, the Sea Harp and one new playset, Crystal Falls were also both released by Mattel. Since the first wave of Fantastic Fashions were such a big hit, a second wave of 8 brand new sets were produced as well.
The packaging for the Princess of Power line for wave 2 remained nearly identical to the previous wave the year before. It featured the POP logo at the top of the card, just above a pink starburst that seemed to jump out at you, along with the name of the character above the bubble. A beautifully drawn portrait of She-Ra riding her steed, Swift Wind sat directly in the middle of the card, and was the same portrait on every wave one card, regardless of the character or allegiance. Mattel did change up the card backs a bit with a full length portrait of each character and the removal of the pink box at the top. Also, the creatures and horses replaced their closed box packaging with an open face box so you could see the horses inside.
