New Adventures of He-Man (Wave 4) – 1992

The New Adventures of He-Man (Wave 4) – 1992

By the end of 1991, The New Adventures of He-Man franchise was officially in trouble. The new toy line began strong in 1989, but saw waning sales for each wave thereafter. The rebooted animated series lasted only one season and 65 episodes, coming to a sudden end in December of 1990. Due to decreased sales, a lack of media outlets and increased competition from other toy lines, Mattel ended their new He-Man toy line in 1992. The final wave saw only three figures released in the North American market and three more being exclusives to European markets.

For more information about Mattel’s New Adventures of He-Man line from 1992, see bottom of the page for a complete summary.

The New Adventures of He-Man – Wave 4 (1992): Vehicles

By the end of 1991, The New Adventures of He-Man franchise was officially in trouble. The new toy line began strong in 1989, but saw waning sales for each wave thereafter. The rebooted animated series lasted only one season and 65 episodes, coming to a sudden end in December of 1990. Due to decreased sales, a lack of media outlets and increased competition from other toy lines, Mattel ended their new He-Man toy line in 1992. The final wave saw only three figures released in the North American market and three more being exclusives to European markets.

Mattel gave us six more standard figures for the final wave of the New Adventures of He-Man toys in 1992. For starters, there was new versions of both main characters, He-Man and Skeletor. For the Galactic Guardians, we got Missile Armor Icarius (Flipshot), Spin Fist Hydron and the new Thunder Punch He-Man. The Evil Mutants included Hook Em’ Brakk (Flogg), Too-Tall Hooves and the brand new Battle Blade Skeletor. In addition to the figures, we also got two new Electronic roleplay accessories with the Thunder Punch Gauntlet and the Terror Punch Gauntlet. This final wave did not include any vehicles or playsets.

The packaging for the final wave of New Adventures of He-Man line was nearly identical to previous years with its very generic dark blue theme. The new “He-Man” logo sat at the top center of the blister pack card. The figure itself was positioned to the right of the card, while its accessories were to the left side. The name of each character was positioned just above the figure bubble in white letters. As far as the card backs go, each was unique to the character, with a short bio on the character, along with nicely illustrated breakdowns of each action feature. Overall, this toy line may have never really grabbed people at the time, but has been fondly remembered by collectors and fans over the years.
