Batman Forever (Kenner) 1995
Building on the continued success of its Batman offerings, Kenner rolled out the Batman Forever toy line in 1995 to coincide with the release of the big budget film starring Val Kilmer taking over as Batman. The collection was a bit larger than previous efforts, featuring twenty-three standard action figures—many of which were different variations of Batman himself—supported by a wide assortment of deluxe figures, multipacks, accessories, and vehicles. The line was further bolstered by two large-scale playsets, giving fans a broad range of ways to recreate the movie’s action, and it ultimately stood as a colorful and wide-ranging entry in Kenner’s ongoing Batman legacy.
For more information about Kenner’s Batman Forever toy line, see bottom of page for a complete summary.
Batman Forever (1995) Wave One
For the debut of their Batman Forever line, Kenner released 11 new standard figures in 1995, which included Blast Cape Batman, Fire Guard Batman, Hydro Claw Robin, Manta Ray Batman, Night Hunter Batman, The Riddler, Sonar Sensor Batman, Street Biker Robin, Transforming Bruce Wayne, Transforming Dick Grayson, and Two-Face.
Blast Cape Batman

Market Value:
Carded $16 – $22
Loose $6 – $9
Blast Cape Batman
Accessories: Blast Cape, Assault Blades
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Blast Cape Batman was one of six different Batman variants from the first wave of the Batman Forever line. He comes with his Blast Cape of course, which could be launched by turning side release levers, and two Assault Blades.
Fire Guard Batman

Market Value:
Carded $18 – $25
Loose $8 – $12
Fire Guard Batman
Accessories: Fire Helmet, Shield, Fire Sword, Cloth Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Fireguard Batman was among the many Batman variants from this line. He comes with a spinning attack cape action feature when you squeeze his legs together. Fireguard Batman comes with his Fire Helmet, Shield, Fire Sword and Cloth Cape.
Hydro Claw Robin

Market Value:
Carded $12 – $18
Loose $4 – $7
Hydro Claw Robin
Accessories: Aqua Attack Launcher, Backpack, Diving Gear
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Hydro Claw Robin was one of three Robin variants in the first wave of figures. This one included his Aqua Attack Launcher in the form of a large yellow claw, along with its Backpack and a set of Diving Gear.
Manta Ray Batman

Market Value:
Carded $18 – $25
Loose $9 – $13
Manta Ray Batman
Accessories: Firing Sea Sled w/ Projectile, Pop-Out Breathing Gear, Fins x 2
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: We got a bunch of wild Batman variants in this line, and Manta Ray Batman is one of them. Press buttons on his back to pop-out the Breathing Gear, then attach the two fins and put Batman into his Sea Sled, which fires a projectile by pressing a button.
Night Hunter Batman

Market Value:
Carded $18 – $25
Loose $8 – $12
Night Hunter Batman
Accessories: Claw Glider Wing, Claw Arms x 2, Night Vision Goggles
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Night Hunter Batman was actually kind of cool looking with his metalized gold wings and high speed night vision goggles, along with his black and gold paint job. In all, he comes with his Claw Glider Wing, Claw Arms x 2, and Night Vision Goggles.
Riddler (The)

Market Value:
Carded $12 – $18
Loose $4 – $7
Riddler (The)
Accessories: Trapping Brain-Drain Helmet w/ Backpack
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Villains in the Batman movies are always a big deal, and it doesn’t get much bigger than Jim Carrey’s portrayal of The Riddler from the movie (one of my personal favorites). He comes with his Trapping Brain-Drain Helmet with Backpack and Control Arm.
Sonar Sensor Batman

Market Value:
Carded $16 – $22
Loose $7 – $11
Sonar Sensor Batman
Accessories: Flying Disc Blaster w/ Disc, Pop-Up Sonar Scope, Shield, Cloth Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Another Batman variant was Sonar Sensor Batman. I mean there’s been so many that you’re bound to run out of ideas eventually. He comes with a Flying Disc Blaster with Disc, Pop-Up Sonar Scope, Shield, and Cloth Cape.
Street Biker Robin

Market Value:
Carded $12 – $18
Loose $4 – $7
Street Biker Robin
Accessories: Launching Grappling Hooks, String, Saddlebags, Battle Staff
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: This was a bit of a strange figure for Robin. It’s called Street Biker Robin and comes with Launching Grappling Hooks, String, Saddlebags, and Battle Staff. As you can see, there is no Robin costume, but rather a red shirt with an “R” on it and vest. The sculpt of the figure is ok and is passable for Chris O’Donnell’s likeness.
Transforming Bruce Wayne

Market Value:
Carded $22 – $30
Loose $10 – $15
Transforming Bruce Wayne
Accessories: Quick Change Bat Suit, Battle Blades, Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: This is probably the best Kenner gave us for an actual Val Kilmer Batman figure and it’s actually not bad. Transforming Bruce Wayne had been done in other Batman lines and is fairly similar to those. He comes with his Snap-On Quick Change Bat Suit, Cape, and set of Battle Blades.
Transforming Dick Grayson

Market Value:
Carded $16 – $22
Loose $6 – $9
Transforming Dick Grayson
Accessories: Crime Fighting Suit (Chest Plate, Leg Guards), Cape, Sudden Reveal Mask, Bat Weapons x 2
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Transforming Dick Grayson is actually one of my favorites from this wave. They still have the Snap-On armor like the Batman version, but instead of a clunky mask, they have a “Sudden Reveal” feature when you place the figure’s head in ice cold water, pretty nifty. In all he comes with Crime Fighting Suit (Chest Plate, Leg Guards), Cape, and Two Bat Weapons.
Two-Face

Market Value:
Carded $16 – $22
Loose $6 – $9
Two-Face
Accessories: Turbo Charge Cannon w/ Projectiles x 3, Good/Evil Coin
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Two-Face was portrayed by Tommy Lee Jones in the Batman Forever movie and did a nice job in my opinion. The figure comes with his Turbo Charge Cannon, Three Projectiles, and oversized Good/Evil Coin. The sculpt on this figure is actually nice and really captures the actor’s likeness.
Batman Forever (1995) Wave Two
Series Two of the Batman Forever toy line included 12 more standard figures in late 1995, with Batarang Batman, Ice Blade Batman, Neon Armor Batman, Night Flight Batman, Power Beacon Batman, Recon Hunter Batman, The Riddler, Sky Board Robin, Solar Shield Batman, Street Racer Batman, Triple Strike Robin, and Wing Blast Batman.
Batarang Batman

Market Value:
Carded $20 – $28
Loose $10 – $15
Batarang Batman
Accessories: Spinning Batarang, Radar System, Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Less Common – Appears less often
Notes: Kenner really stepped up the Batman variants for Wave Two, so here is Batarang Batman, who comes with his Spinning Batarang, Radar System, and Cape. The radar system and weapon move by turning the wheel on the figure’s back.
Ice Blade Batman

Market Value:
Carded $20 – $28
Loose $9 – $13
Ice Blade Batman
Accessories: Quick Deploy Ski Sled, Blade Runners, Blaster
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Less Common – Appears less often
Notes: Ice Blade Batman was re-used by Kenner for the Batman & Robin movie in 1997, of course. He comes with his Quick Deploy Ski Sled, Blade Runners, and Blaster. This is a pretty cool paint job for this wave and the sled makes for a cool display piece.
Neon Armor Batman

Market Value:
Carded $25 – $35
Loose $12 – $18
Neon Armor Batman
Accessories: Snap-On Armor Shield, Grappling Hook Weapon, Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Less Common – Appears less often
Notes: Neon Armor Batman seems appropriate for the very bright and colorful Joel Schumacher Batman Forever movie. This version of Batman comes with Snap-On Armor Shield, Grappling Hook Weapon, and his Cape.
Night Flight Batman

Market Value:
Carded $20 – $28
Loose $9 – $13
Night Flight Batman
Accessories: Bat Shaped Foldable Wing Pack, Bat Attack Weapon
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Less Common – Appears less often
Notes: Night Flight Batman leans into the comparisons with an actual bat by giving the Dark Knight a nifty Bat Shaped Wing Pack that can spread out for flight or fold inwards. There is also a funky looking “Bat Attack” weapon that resembles some sort of metal detector.
Power Beacon Batman

Market Value:
Carded $20 – $28
Loose $9 – $13
Power Beacon Batman
Accessories: Light Force Suit, Flashfire Weapon, Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Power Beacon Batman is yet another variant of the Caped Crusader. This one comes with a Light Force Suit that snaps onto Batman, along with a cape. He also features a Flashfire Weapon that can light up when the light switch is turned on.
Recon Hunter Batman

Market Value:
Carded $20 – $28
Loose $9 – $13
Recon Hunter Batman
Accessories: Missile-Firing Surveillance Drone, Wing Launchers w/ Missiles
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Kenner released two larger accessory Batman figures for Wave Two, with one of them being Recon Hunter Batman. He comes with a Missile-Firing Surveillance Drone, and Wing Launchers w/ Missiles. The launchers can actually rotate to fire different directions.
Riddler (The)

Market Value:
Carded $14 – $20
Loose $5 – $8
Riddler (The)
Accessories: Blasting Question Mark Bazooka w/ Projectile
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: This is the second version of Riddler released for the Batman Forever line. The figure is essentially the same mold as Wave One, but with a new black and green paint job. Riddler also comes with a Blasting Question Mark Bazooka with Projectile.
Sky Board Robin

Market Value:
Carded $75 – $100
Loose $25 – $40
Sky Board Robin
Accessories: Missile Blasting Pursuit Vehicle w/ Missile, Cloth Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Moderate Difficulty – Takes some patience
Notes: In addition to Batman, the next most important good guy in the Batman Universe is without a doubt, Robin. This version of the Boy Wonder is called Sky Board Robin, and he comes with his Missile Blasting Pursuit Vehicle, Missile, and Cloth Cape.
Solar Shield Batman

Market Value:
Carded $18 – $25
Loose $7 – $11
Solar Shield Batman
Accessories: Heat Deflection Cape, Crossbow Weapon
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Solar Shield Batman is yet another Batman variant in an endless line of them. This one comes with a large Snap-On Heat Deflection Cape, that closes inward to protect Batman. He also comes with a black Crossbow Weapon.
Street Racer Batman

Market Value:
Carded $25 – $35
Loose $12 – $18
Street Racer Batman
Accessories: Missile-Firing Pursuit Cycle, Launcher, Missiles x 2, Cloth Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Less Common – Appears less often
Notes: Kenner released two larger accessory Batman figures for Wave Two, with one of them being Street Racer Batman. He comes with a Missile-Firing Pursuit Vehicle, Launcher, Two Missiles, and his Cloth Cape. The missiles fire by pressing on the cycle’s tail fin.
Triple Strike Robin

Market Value:
Carded $18 – $25
Loose $8 – $12
Triple Strike Robin
Accessories: Multi-Cannon Slinger, Projectile Weapons x 3, Cape
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Triple Strike Robin is appropriately named because he comes with his high-speed Multi-Cannon Slinger which fires three projectiles, which all resemble various weapons. Robin also comes with his removable cape.
Wing Blast Batman

Market Value:
Carded $20 – $28
Loose $9 – $13
Wing Blast Batman
Accessories: Sudden Alert Bio Wings, Wing Blaster
Years Released: 1995
Difficulty To Find: Common – Easily found on the secondary market
Notes: Wing Blast Batman comes with a large set of silver wings that fit over the figure’s head and onto his back. His Wing Blaster weapon fits into his right hand. The wings can spread out or come back inwards by manually positioning them.

Notes: The Batcave Playset was a welcome addition in 1995, since we had gotten the Wayne Manor Batcave Playset three times already. This was essentially three separate base pieces that were connected by ladder sections and a rope, but it’s actually much cooler than it sounds. It comes with a ton of fun features and accessories, such as a Batman Transformation Elevator, Computer Control Console, Rotating Batmobile Diagnostic Ramp, Missile Firing Station, Villain-Trapping Spikes, Batwing Docking Station, Quick Attack Cable, and a Hidden Chamber. Best of all, the pieces easily broke down into up into one tidy piece for easy storage.

Notes: This was a clever idea on the part of Kenner, because it gave you the Batmobile vehicle, which was similar to the standard issue, and also gave you additional parts to allow you to transform it into the Batwing or Batboat as well.
The Batman Forever line included two waves consisting of 23 standard released action figures with a ridiculous 15 of them being different variants of Batman, along with five variants each of Robin and two of the Riddler. Wave One included: Blast Cape Batman, Fire Guard Batman, Hydro Claw Robin, Manta Ray Batman, Night Hunter Batman, The Riddler, Sonar Sensor Batman, Street Biker Robin, Transforming Bruce Wayne, Transforming Dick Grayson, and Two-Face. Wave Two included: Batarang Batman, Ice Blade Batman, Neon Armor Batman, Night Flight Batman, Power Beacon Batman, Recon Hunter Batman, The Riddler, Sky Board Robin, Solar Shield Batman, Street Racer Batman, Triple Strike Robin, and Wing Blast Batman. In addition, there were five Deluxe Figures (with four of them being Batman variants), two multipacks, a 15″ Ultimate Batman figure, a few accessories, two large scale playsets (Batcave and Wayne Manor Batcave Compound) and 6 vehicles that included the Batboat, Batmobile, Radio Control Batmobile, Batwing, Robin Cycle, and the Triple Action Vehicle Set.
The packaging for Kenner’s Batman Forever toy line was actually pretty cool with each figure getting its own unique package on a fun looking card themed to the vibe of the movie. Each figure came on a traditional blister card, with the figure positioned on the left side of the bubble and its accessories on the right. The Batman Forever logo was to the top left of the card, accompanied by a unique illustration of the included figure at the top center. The illustration was a nicely drawn action pose for each character. The character’s name appeared at the bottom right side of the bubble. The back of each card showcased all the figures and accessories from that wave, along with photos highlighting each figure’s action features. Overall, Kenner’s Batman Forever line was VERY Batman variant heavy, but it was still fun and a nice line to collect.
